NOTE FROM COMPOSER
The Warmth in Yearning (2023) was written during a time of missing the past, but excited for the future.
Throughout the compositional process, there were several works that inspiration was drawn from, from modern film music, along with composers like Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gordon Jacob, and several other classical composers.
After listening to works that reminded me of yearning and resentment, along with works that reminded me of the joy of the next day, I had the challenge of combining both emotions within a singular piece. I had kept coming back to one melody I had heard in a show that I had binge watched in 2020. It was the ultimate melody that reminded me of both yearning for the past but being excited for the future.
